International Women's Day
Message from the Chairwoman, Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, and the CEO, Carlos M. Jarque

International Women's Day is an occasion to recognise the courage and determination of women who have played—and continue to play—a key role in the history of their countries, companies, institutions and communities. It is also an opportunity to reflect on achievements to date and on the major challenges that remain to be addressed.

Under the initiative: "Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality", the UN has laid out a series of objectives for 2030, including an end to discrimination and violence against women and girls worldwide.

As you know, FCC has been actively implementing equality policies within our companies for years. In 2015, we signed four new Equality Plans within the Group: the second plans at FCC Construction and FCC Aqualia, and the first at Servicios Especiales de Limpieza and FCC Medio Ambiente. Other companies already have their own equality plans: Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, S.A, Cementos Portland Valderrivas, FCC Industrial and Infraestructuras Energéticas, S.A.

Last year, FCC Industrial received the "Workplace Equality" award from Spain's Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality. This sign of excellence recognises the application of equality policies in working conditions, in the company's organisational models and in other areas, such as services, products and advertising. FCC Aqualia received this award in the past.

These plans and awards are achievements by all of us in the FCC Group, and they represent a commitment on our part.

To make equality a reality in our companies, we must necessarily increase the presence of women in decision-making positions. We have steadily raised the number of women at management level. At present, 24% of our executives are women. We must work to increase that percentage in the coming years because, if equality advances, so too will society, the economy and business. Therefore, all of us—both men and women—are responsible for promoting equality and for eradicating anything that stands in its way.

FCC will continue to facilitate and favour access, training and development for women in our Group because we are convinced that doing so will have a positive impact on everyone.

Let us celebrate this day by adopting a shared commitment to achieve the justice and equality that we all seek.
