Aqualia and Majis present their sustainability alliance in the 2018 Oman Energy and Water Exhibition and Conference in Mascate

The joint venture company Oman Sustainable Water Services (OSWS), formed by Aqualia and Majis, was present in this year’s Oman Energy and Water Exhibition and Conference, with more than 150 speakers participating.

In the event, Aqualia and Majis confirmed its commitment to sustainability and the improvement of efficiency in tackling the important challenges facing the water sector in Oman.

The Oman Energy and Water Exhibition and Conference event, sponsored by the Oman Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, was held between 30 April and 2 May in the capital of the Sultanate, Mascate. The programme included the presence of Aqualia through the company Oman Sustainable Water Services (OSWS), the new joint venture formed with the Omani state company Majis Industrial Services. OSWS will be responsible for developing a complex project over the next 20 years that includes the management of numerous water intake and pumping, desalination, supply, potabilising and sewerage infrastructures in the port area of Sohar.

In the Water Economy session of the official conferences programme in the event, Carlos García Díaz, Aqualia Technical Office Manager, presented the case study, “Strategies and technologies to reduce NRW - NRW Project and leakage detection in Riyadh” giving a detailed description of current technologies for minimising water losses in systems and presented the successful project by Aqualia in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, for improving the efficiency of its supply systems by reducing leaks.

The second day of conferences, Abdullah Al Sadi, Business Development Manager, Majis Industrial Services, gave his speech “Working towards zero liquid discharge at Sohar industrial Port area - Presenting the challenges and solutions” in the Water Production & Water Resources session.

According to José Miguel Santos, Aqualia Country Manager in the UAE, Qatar and Oman, “Aqualia has a very vast potential for collaboration with the organisations that manage water in Oman. The company’s experience in efficient management, its strong commitment to research and development and its powerful implementation in the countries in the region make Aqualia the ideal partner for undertaking any project in the integral water cycle.”
