Santiago Lafuente, Aqualia's new CEO

  • Aqualia's Board of Directors has appointed Santiago Lafuente, current director for Spain, as the company's new CEO. He takes over from Félix Parra, who has held the position since 2013 and is reaching retirement. The appointment will be effective as of 9th April.
  • Lafuente is one of the great experts in the water management sector. He has held various functions and responsibilities in Aqualia for more than 30 years and his appointment represents a clear commitment to continuity when it comes to renewing the management team.
  • Aqualia's Board of Directors has recognised and thanked Félix Parra for his work over the years, "whose hard work and dedication have contributed enormously to Aqualia's growth and evolution".
Santiago Lafuente, Aqualia's new CEO

The Board of Directors of Aqualia has appointed Santiago Lafuente Pérez-Lucas as CEO of the company, who until now held the position of Director for Spain, after more than 30 years linked to the citizen services group. Santiago Lafuente's appointment will take effect on 9th April 2024. 

Santiago Lafuente holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a master’s degree in End-to-end Water Plant Management from CEDEX. He has also studied Project Financial Model Analysis at IESE and EOI.

Santiago Lafuente has extensive experience in the water management sector, and at Aqualia he has held the positions of Area Director, Director of the Central-North delegation, as well as being responsible for Wastewater Production and Treatment at in Spain. 

Lafuente is a regular speaker at conferences and sectorial round tables, and currently holds the vice-presidency of the Spanish Association of Water Supply Companies (AGA).

Aqualia's Board of Directors acknowledges and thanks the work carried out by Félix Parra, who since 2013 has held the position of CEO, now assumed by Santiago Lafuente. With his work and dedication, he has contributed enormously to the growth and evolution of Aqualia, which in recent years has achieved a leading position in the water management sector worldwide. 

Aqualia is the water management company owned by the citizen services group FCC (51%) and the Australian ethical fund IFM Investors (49%). The company is the fourth largest water company in Europe by population served and the ninth largest in the world, according to the latest Global Water Intelligence ranking (December 2022) and has been awarded "Best Water Company of the year 2023". It currently serves 45.2 million users in 18 countries (Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Chile, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Spain, United States, France, Georgia, Italy, Mexico, Oman, Peru, Portugal, Qatar, Czech Republic and Romania).
