Digitalisation and improvement of water efficiency in the water supply system
As the body responsible for managing the water supply service, we have carried out a project to digitise the municipal network under the funding scheme to promote the digitisation of urban water use monitoring in supply networks in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, launched by the Regional Government of Andalusia, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development (Order of 30 November 2023).
The project incorporates metering, remote control and remote reading equipment into the supply system, enabling real-time monitoring of the operation of abstraction points, reservoirs and distribution networks, the early detection of leaks and faults, and more efficient management of the service’s water and energy resources. The aim is to improve the network’s efficiency by more than 10 per cent compared with the baseline, reduce water losses and provide greater transparency to users and public authorities regarding the management of the urban water cycle.
